Mannheim Christmas Market
November 28th - December 23rd 2018, open daily from 11 am to 9 pm
Mannheim Christmas Market is one of Germany's biggest and finest, hosting thousands of visitors each year. The market is centrally located at the city's famous sight 'Wasserturm' (a historic water tower) right next to the picturesque Jugendstil gardens, covering the historic landmarks with a holiday cheer.
Children can enjoy a variety of attractions ranging from a historic carousel to a children's Ferris wheel. A definite highlight for the whole family is the giant Christmas pyramid with rotating figures on top. Taking a stroll down the market's festively named lanes, such as 'Engelsgasse' (Angel's Lane), 'Nikolausstraße' (St. Nicolas' Street) or 'Hirtenpfad' (Shepard's Path) is sure to put you in the Christmas spirit!
Around 200 lovingly decorated booths offer a great selection of Christmas goods: From Christmas decorations, children's toys and jewelry to handmade crafts and collector's items of all kinds. Charities sell homemade cookies, jam or handicrafts - the profits go to good causes. A special treat are the numerous Christmas pastries, such as Moroccan almond cookies, handmade truffles or the traditional Dresden Stollen (German Christmas fruitcake). And, as if that was not enough, there also are plenty of booths for international and regional food, sweets, mulled wine and much more.
Mannheim Christmas Market can be easily reached from the highway or in 7 minutes by foot from the city's central railway station.
